In the spring of 2010 we were performing at Mary's Woods on the Marylhurst campus in Lake Oswego. Our performance that day was "Let's Go To The Movies", which featured well remembered songs related to movies over the years. We were singing a particularly pretty piece when we noticed a couple dancing in the aisle. Their reaction to the song energized our entire group and afterwards we interviewed them to hear their story.
In 1945 Oscar (the husband) was in the military. Mary (the wife) had been helping out at the local USO and one evening Oscar walked in and asked Mary to dance. They fell in love, got married, and never stopped dancing. Oscar said that when they heard our music it took them back to the days when they had first gotten married and they felt compelled to dance. We are thrilled that our music could provide Oscar and Mary those precious memories. This is one of numerous instances that affirm the importance of our decision to sing to the retirement community as a primary focus. Below is a candid shot of Oscar and Mary dancing.
